As long as, as already said, you rent a car, before travel to the US, and from a .co.uk website for a specific US rental company, or use a third party consolidator who has quoted you in anything other than US$, then normally the very necessarily insurances that you'd need to drive in the USA with adequate cover should be included.
Jul 4, 2024, 10:33 AM. In the US, you absolutely need to purchase liability insurance for any rental. In fact, there is a minimum amount of liability coverage required by law, that the rental agency insist you have. If you don’t book it in advance, then you will be forced to buy it at the rental counter when you pick up the car.
Upon leaving, we picked up our rental car in Siracuse and continued our adventure in Sicily. Before heading to our last destination, Palermo, we dropped off the car at the Europcar airport return and took the bus into the city. Taxi to airport departure morning. You could take a look at info available on hertz.com and europcar.com for two examples of costs to increase coverage and reduce deductible. I've been looking at the same issue for a five-day rental on a Fiat 500x category vehicle where I am finding the cost to be just over 50 euro per day with basic coverage and approximately double that for coverage up to 200,000 euro.
