    Re: May Trip - Driving Conditions & Places to Visit. Do be aware that May is off season (mud season) in the high mountain towns. You will likely encounter closures in Telluride, Silverton, Ouray and others. Meaning that some restaurants, shops, etc will be closed and the free gondola will be closed in Telluride.

    Your biggest driving issue will be traffic. Heading out of denver on a Friday evening or weekend morning or Heading back on a weekend afternoon you will be in traffic. And yes Colorado springs and fort Collins are cities on the edge of the mountains. Head into the mountains for fun mountain towns with mountain scenery.

If its storming when you arrive, stay the night in Denver. That time of year, snow melts quickly at lower elevations, like Denver or Glenwood Springs.

Call 719-385-7325 and press 1 twice for weather/road conditions. I don't know why, but the CDOT link I posted for the webcam is showing Hwy 9 not 131.
