5. Re: Hertz Gold membership question. 6 years ago. No, you need to have the GR number on the reservation to qualify for the service, which basically means they pre- allocate a car to you which you can just go to the garage and drive off in, depending on the location arrangements.

I feel your "pain" but it may not work to continue to contact the place you ended up renting from. Some Hertz locations are just that - painful to deal with. Others are nicer. Hertz 800 number is 1 (800) 654-4173 so you might want to see if they can direct you to someone who is not at the location you rented from.
We reserved a car through Hertz online prior to arriving at the airport. When we got there, and got to the Hertz counter we were coerced into spending much more money. Our rental was $450 US for a 9 day rental. With taxes and insurance, we ended up being charged $1600.00 US.

I agree photoguy. Another thing to think about is Hertz is generally regarded as one of the best rental car companies. When we need a car we have to rent from somebody. This problem could have come up with any company, it just happens to be Hertz in this case.
