I'm going down for a week at the end of this month, and I want to get a cheap rental car. I usually use Hertz, but for some reason, their prices are inflated to over $500 for the week! Hotwire has some cheap options, but I don't know which rental car company it will be, and it is non-refundable, so I'm kind of nervous.
The only issue with car rentals is they charge you when you make the booking and if the price goes down, tough luck. I didn't use Hotwire, used Kayak. It was Dollar, the guy said it was about 1.5 mi north of the airport. 2400 Miami Road. That didn't work for me in many ways as I have two small children, arriving late after the off-airport rental location is closed.
From Hotwire, they have given me rates for cars that are in Hartford, CT which is a 1/2 hour away and in Windsor which is 10 minutes away and there is no rental car shuttle to that location, so you would have to get a taxi. I think Hotwire is disreputable to treat potential customers this way.
