My credit card gives me status at Hertz, and before that my AAA membership did, and I found that having status made picking up a rental much faster. If you don't have status, then either is likely fine. However, Hertz is generally better regarded than Thrifty, so all things being equal I would choose Hertz. Reply.
Dollar and Thrifty are reliable companies. They are not related to Hertz as far as I know. You do need to make sure that insurance is included in your quote. Car rental insurance is expensive. There are airport fees. You probably will not find a comprehensive list showing all of the off airport locations for different companies.

2. Re: Hertz vs. Thrifty at OGG Airport. Jan 10, 2024, 3:59 PM. 4 PM on a Saturday is not a good time to arrive. Lots of outbound flights plus many arrivals. I wouldn't chance the hassles with Thrifty. Often delays are caused buy late returns and slow turnaround of cleaned cars.

I'm getting a significantly better rate from Hertz with my loyalty/card status than I'm getting with Avis even with president's club status. $400+ savings. Just wondering if Hertz is reliable these days with their bankruptcy proceedings and all that.
