I'm going down for a week at the end of this month, and I want to get a cheap rental car. I usually use Hertz, but for some reason, their prices are inflated to over $500 for the week! Hotwire has some cheap options, but I don't know which rental car company it will be, and it is non-refundable, so I'm kind of nervous.
DO NOT use Hotwire. I reserved a car thru them and the pickup for the car was 5 miles from the airport SFO. Payless car was the worst rental experience ever. The Hotwire Rate I booked the res. showed a VW Jetta at 27.49 per day.
BUT once you buy in, you are locked in and have to pay right away.Try sixt.com has one of the best deals with cancellation. Hotwire is likely the cheapest, but ended up paying 50% because my flight was delayed 2 hours and had to pay for an extra day. I will never use hotwire on car rentals because of zero flexibility on flight changes that are out of my control.
