Jan 2020. The Mayan is a staple in Denver. It has two theatres on the main level and one on the top level. There is a bar upstairs and you can take a drink into any of the theatres. The seats are not new, but the intricate design of the space and art work is so worth the visit.
Mayan Theater (Denver) The Mayan Theater (110 Broadway, Denver, Colorado) is a movie house that opened in 1930 and was part of the Fox Theater Corporation and Fox Intermountain Theaters. Its life as a Fox Theatre is denoted on top of its neon marquee. As with many theaters across the U.S., it ran an A and B slate of films throughout the day.
The Mayan is on Denver's Register of Historic Places for good reason -- its throwback old opulence a refreshing change from the sanitized sameness of modern chains -- and its quality indy film lineups make it easy to find a strong movie in a fun and different setting. Seats are old and small, but the downstairs theater (#1) is quite large.
