Lots of people seem to book vacation packages to Maui through Costco. From what we hear on the forum most are very happy with the experience. I’m curious what your own experiences have been with booking through Costco, and I hope you will share the ins and outs you’ve learned about. I hope this thread might help others with Costco bookings ...
At the time the Maui Gold pineapples were only 2.99 each. So with a $3 roll of packing tape, my box of 6 pineapples cost me $21. This is also the gift that keeps on giving, as I root and plant the tops in our Hawaiian resort-inspired garden. We've gotten one pineapple so far from plants we've been planting since 2016.
But unless you name some only the truly obsessive or bored will hunt up Costco packages and see what's on offer. There are differences wrt room sizes, views, how good the beaches are for swimming and snorkeling, traffic issues, pool quality, proximity to walkable restaurants and shops, proximity to natural spots or paths, etc.
In West Maui, I would consider the Ritz Kapalua, Honua Kai, or one of the timeshare resorts like Hyatt Residences, Westin KOR, Marriott Ocean Club, or Westin Nanea. Costco is good for flights and cars, but not always for condos or hotels. For the timeshare resorts, Redweek is a much better deal.
The least expensive Costco packages with car rental include these accommodations: - Royal Kahana Maui by Outrigger - Aston at Papakea Resort - Lahaina Shores Beach Resort - Kamaole Sands Package - Palms at Wailea Maui by Outrigger - Ka'anapali Beach Hotel - Aston Kaanapali Shores - Aston Mahana at Kaanapali. Which package would be best?
