If its pouring rain out you may have a hard time finding an available yellow cab. If its really busy uber or lyft may jack of their prices. I mean its an app so they will come to you so it cuts down on having to hope one drives by. The way I look at it is this. Uber and Lyft should be available quickly. But going to New Jersey could be a problem because the driver has to get back to NYC and can't count on a fare back. As for traditional taxis, I believe they still charge double the meter fare to go to New Jersey for the very reason Uber and Lyft drivers don't want to go there.
