There is no mention of a charge for a 65+ driver. I called them and got the same information. I think there is some misunderstanding here.

   I just spoke with Hertz Reservations and Customer Relations. They do NOT charge an additional fee for those over 65. Depending on status with Hertz, there may be a charge for an additional driver, but there is no charge based on age except for those under 25. Hertz will investigate this with Expedia and Orbitz.

   2 years ago. I found a great prepaid rate from Thrifty at Lisbon Airport for August. I've also found some reviews saying that the Hertz brands (Thrifty and Dollar) find ways to fraudulently overcharge customers. Since the reviews are not very recent, I thought the good people on Tripadvisor might have some up to date experiences to share.

   They filed for Chapter 11 (US bankruptcy protection) in May 2020, but came out of that as a normally functioning business, officially in July 2021. In the USA demand for rental cars continues to be very high, and with Hertz's other brands (Dollar and Thrifty) also very busy, I would expect they're financially sound right now.
