Having booked and paid for a car with Europe cars via Hertz, to travel the UK, 7 months prior, we were given no choice on pick up, but to up grade, as “apparently” no other cars had a GPS. The original cost being $2,500AUD, with another $2,000 AUD added on top. We were totally duped. Don’t hire through hertz or Europe cars.
3. Re: Renting a Car in the UK & Driving to France & Italy. You will be charged a huge drop off fee if you leave the car in France or Italy. Think about it--a UK car will have a steering wheel on the right, and no one in France or Italy will want to rent a car like this, so it will have to be driven back to Manchester.
Re: Returning a rental car a Heathrow airport. There are signs to 'Car rental return (Other)' on the Northern Perimeter Road West which is where the other rental places are located such as Hertz, Enterprise, National and Europcar. But they are not specified like the signs for Avis and Budget.
