    We rent yearly through Avis at Heathrow and there is no upper age limit. In some countries outside of England/Scotland/Wales the upper limit is 75 but may be able to rent if you have documentation from your insurance company and physician stating you are healthy and accident free. Think about it--a UK car will have a steering wheel on the right, and no one in France or Italy will want to rent a car like this, so it will have to be driven back to Manchester.

    The guy at Hertz assured me that with the full insurance (zero excess, personal insurance) no matter what condition when I return the car, there wont be any problem. When I returned the car at Edinburgh, even with full insurance, the Hertz guy took half hour to check the car condition.
