You will most definitely need cash is some places, eg roadside food and drink stalls and some other small-scale establishments. Malls and convenience stores are all cashless. £100 is well over MYR500 and will likely be adequate.

You will need the TnG serial no. of your MyKad in order to link it to the TnG eWallet app. You will have to perform a top up to your MyKad at a machine or a counter and get the receipt, the TnG serial no. will be stated on the receipt.

    The first time I used a credit card in Malaysia in a hotel's restaurant, it was cloned and used for thousands of pounds worth of purchases fraudulently! This was many years ago and luckily my bank refunded my money and ever since I only use credit cards in reputable hotels.

    Credit cards very widely used - Malaysia is a modern country. US$ widely accepted at money changers and banks, and the exchange rates only vary a few sen, not major + / - ve. ATMs everywhere, easy to use to withdraw money, just let your bank know you are travelling.
