  2. Safe to wear contact lenses on long haul flight? - Tripadvisor

Mine are soft contact lenses, and I have worn them and slept in them on long haul flights before. It is probably not the best thing to do as they do get dry, but I prefer them to wearing glasses which I also have tried before. However, using rewetting drops help to make the lenses pliable again.

My contact lenses are quite good at remaining hydrated even if I neglect to use rewetting drops. However, for long flights of 10.5 hours or so I use the drops but leave in the contacts. Since you already notice your having problems in air conditioned buildings then you should get the rewetting drops or don't wear them at all, use your eyeglasses.

If your eyes get dry, use rewetting drops/ If you are planning to wear your contacts for periods of much longer than you usually wear them I would make sure to have your glasses on hand and a contact lenses case filled with saline in case something happens and you need to take them out, and also have some rewetting drops handy in case you get a ...

I thought I was the last person still wearing gas permeable lenses! When I travel I keep an empty lens case with a few drops of fluid in my liquids bag for easy access during the flight. I also keep a spare pair of lenses in the washbag in my rollaboard; the spare lenses are (obviously) in soaking solution, probably 3 mL per compartment.

Yes, bacteria in tap water=eye infection. Bad idea. If you do not rinse them with solution, the same thing happens as if you put water in your eyes while wearing them and that means eyes are very dry and contacts stuck to eyeballs until you can get some rewetting drops in. Please do not try the water thing.

I have recently switched to Clear Care, a hydrogen peroxide based contact lens solution, due to my eye care professional's recommendation. In a few months, this will be my first time traveling with it [by air]. I have been hearing stories of TSA officers confiscating such solution in carry on baggage and not being able to negotiate citing ...

    7. Re: Flying with over 3 oz of contact lens solution. Contact lens solution is considered a medication and so not subject to the 3-1-1 rule. >>All prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including petroleum jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes;<<.

    6. Re: Contact lens solution. 4 years ago. At Superpharm: 350ml own brand saline 40 shekels. 350ml own brand all in one solution 60 shekels. 100ml bottles cost approximately half these amounts. In all cases it’s cheaper to buy in bulk. Packs of 3 350ml bottles of solution cost from 100 shekels.
