Sun Network is just as good as Globe and Smart. Smart has a reputation of stealing your load and they make it almost impossible to claim it back.
I agree with you. Just buy a very cheap phone as low as $20 then just email or send a text message to your friends regarding your new Philippine telephone number. You may want also to activate the roaming feature of your your phone through your British carrier so you can still use it as you would normally do just in case you really need to.
3. Re: Prepaid Cell Phone Help/Question. If you are looking for a cheap phone mainly for local calls (not a smart phone) then you can buy one for around 30 USD or 1250 PHP. A SIM card may cost you around 30 PHP and prepaid load comes in denominations of 100, 300, 500 (the most common).
