if you set the maps you create in Your Places or My Maps and make them public you can then share the link on email; Google+; twitter and facebook. and they can edit the map if you give them permission - so anyone could add POIs. you are allow 10 layers with 10 destinations in each layer.
Create a "travel" map wiht pins showing locations covered by DEs. This map would be zoomable to reveal detail as you get closer to a location. Display individual screen names too when you zoom in close enough. These could be clickable to send a PM direct to the DE. A sort of dynamic / graphical directory.
