Can anyone confirm whether the phone sim cards you buy in Sri Lanka are compatible with the NextG / 3 G phones we use in Australia? You will need an unlocked phone and then it is easy. At the airport in Colombo there is a Dialog GSM office, it is near the banks and easy to find. Dialog has probably the best coverage in SL. Buy a SIM card which costs about Rs 300, ($3) and you can put money on your phone there and then.
You can buy a sim at airport. All networks are similarly good. Airtel has a good package for 888LKR you might like.
