I traveled up from Tampa this weekend to visit my brother who was doing some training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Easy to find location - right off I-95, exit 38. This is probably the closest hotel to FLETC - about 2 miles. My stay there on Saturday 3/27/2010 exceeded my expectations. This place was nearly perfect.
The Mills House has a good government rate and some of the other hotels may, too. Just strolling around downtown can be fun and the beaches are not too far. Downtown has so much to do. If he HAS to be closer, I would go with some of the hotels out by Tanger Outlets and the Convention Center.
