There is a merch store beside the venue so you can buy your shirts/ jackets/ posters/albums prior to the show. There are no times posted on the door but the employees told me they open at 12 on concert days. Not to worry, they are still selling merch inside the venue as well. Both places had lines after the concert. Doors opened to get in at 6:45.
Truth is, if you're only talking about a day or so in the city, layer up as much as you're comfortable (a t shirt under a cashmere turtleneck and a windbreaker/denim jacket) and take cabs/ubers. It probably won't be more expensive than buying clothes you will have no further use for. For a day or so, sneakers will be fine.
