8 years ago. I understand that chip and pin is more secure; however banks in the U.S. are not providing PIN numbers except for ATM cards. I am assuming that chip and signature will still be acceptable because we have no alternative.

However, if your card is Chip & Signature then it will still work, although inexperienced shop assistants may be flummoxed.
