It sounds like OP was expecting the refund on his/her credit card as fast as the airline take the money when booking, also did not expect to lose £50 for cancelling due to time change of flight. The refund will take a few days, call Ryanair and challenge the £50 charge.

My understanding is if your arrival time at your destination is more than 90 minutes later than originally scheduled, which I assume it is if the ATL layover has gone from 3 to 5.5 hours, them you are entitled to reject the change and seek a refund.
12. Re: AA Refund question - Next day of purchase. 6 years ago. AA say "You have up to 24 hours from the time of ticket purchase for a refund if you booked at least 2 days prior to departure. You must cancel your trip for a refund.". If you've put a 24hr hold on a ticket then you haven't purchased it.

Another line in smaller print below this with title Refunds stating following:- 'As your flight time change is over 2 hours you may cancel your flight and apply for a refund please click on the link below and enter the required details'. Entered details in link and under reason for request I selected flight time changed +/- 3 hours.

You must provide 30 days notice for a full refund. Less than 30 days out will offer complimentary date change for up to one year. When I made a reservation, one of the days were incorrect, I called three times to fix it as the staff did not seem to really have a grasp on fixing the date.
