Re: National Car Rental - Can I pick a car? Yes, if you belong to the emerald club, you can pick a car from the minivan aisle if that is what you rented. If you take something from another aisle, you get charged for that vehicle. They are not usually nice about it.

Great experience with National today. Be sure to join the club to skip the counter. Choose your car. Everything is done at the exit. We booked with Priceline Express Deal $211/wk. and our Emerald Club wasn’t even linked to the reservation but it was connected to the Drivers Licence. Chose a Jeep compass even though we paid for a standard car.
This thread prompted me to get on the National site to check the price for our 2 weeks rental during Christmas. It was $1176 total for a full size, while DHCR, autoslash, Hotwire are all over $2000. Even Costco went from $1400 2 days ago to $2000. Thank you for this great tip.
