It's a bit fiddly to get the balance in both ears, try pushing it partly into the socket until it balances out. I also prefer to use my own headphones.

   4. Re: American Airlines in flight entertainment. 10 years ago. AA metal uses the regular single jack. There is no need for any plug adapter. Some airlines still use non-standard plugs. I happen to fly on one of them frequently (Cathay Pacific) so I bring my own converter to avoid using their economy class headset.
