    UK provider have always charged an arm and a leg for roaming in the Channel Islands, no idea why. (Most if not all providers abolished roaming charges in the Channel Islands when roaming charges were abolished for EU destinations, but they all seem to have gone back to ripping you off.

Lebara mobile might seem attractive, but they are a nightmare to deal with - especially if you're travelling from overseas into the UK. I bought a Lebara SIM because I had used Lebara in Spain, and it was very easy. But, in the UK, it chewed up all my credit in just a few days.

    If I call France from the USA on my T Mobile phone, the charge is $2 per minute. If I call the USA from France on my Free.fr phone, the call is free. The T Mobile monthly charge for unlimited voice/data is $50 (and that´s the cheapest I have found). My Free.fr mobile with free calls to 100 countries and unlimited voice/data is 16€ a month.

    As noted, the international calls have to be to a landline. This is for calls to my 94 year young mum in Florida who does not have a cell phone nor computer. When doing research, some providers noted that international calls had to be to a cell, not a landline. I believe Lebara permits international calls to a landline.
