137 reviews. 65 helpful votes. Metrocard & PATH - best option? 12 years ago. Hi, we're staying at the Hyatt in Jersey City which is right next to the PATH train. We're coming for a week and will be using the regular subway plus the PATH. I've looked at the relevant websites and I'm guessing the most cost effective way for us to travel would be ...
OMNY vs Metro Card. Jan 10, 2024, 1:34 PM. 2 adults and 3 teens (17,15,13) will be visiting NYC in March. It looks like OMNY is the easiest option vs buying the 7day metro card. I have read that you need to use separate payments to get free fare after 12 rides in a week.
That is $10 a day to ride any subway or bus as many times as we want. We never use cabs as they are expensive and occassionally hard to find, depending on the weather and location. The unlimited card means no checking your balance or counting trips--it is totally worth it. 3.
17 years ago. regular metrocards can be used by two people since you are paying fares. The 'unlimited' ride passes have an 18 minutes delay after being used before it can be used again. When the New York City Transit Authority was created in July 1953, the fare was raised to 15 cents (equivalent to $1.71 in 2023) and a token was issued. [89] In 1970 the fare was raised to 30 cents. [90] This token is 23mm in diameter with a Y cut out, and is known as the "Large Y Cutout".
sweets36, if you want a metrocard with unlimited rides per x number of days then you can't share 1 card. In those cases you need 1 card per person. Only when you have a metrocard with x amount of dollars and pay per ride, then you can share 1 card. Report inappropriate content. Kaye_in_Astoria.
7. Re: MTA machine - accepted coins. For the subwayyou must have a MetroCard - that's all that works. For buses you can use a MetroCard - or you can use money - but no bills and no pennies - so basically 11 quarters for each fare. Which is a huge pain to carry around since they are so heavy.
