If you are in trousers, shorts or short skirt you will be offered a wrapover skirt at the entrance to cover up. Shoulders should be covered but I think elbow length sleeves were OK. Men should be in sleeved shirts/tops with long trousers.

I also always wear trousers but when visiting monasteries have often been requested to wear an offered wrap around skirt over the trousers. As this is a matter of respect I have always complied but I have seen others refuse to cover trousers or shorts.
