I've just looked through the Amazon preview and it's frankly a rubbish representation of the Mapguide. It has full street maps for Manhattan and bits of the outer boroughs, with all the subway stations marked and colour-coded according to the subway line. It also shows hotels, shops, sights, restaurants and theatres etc. and it's very clear.
do not feel self-conscious about being lost or confused, either! as this thread should show you plenty of us who live here get confused too, especially if going somewhere new. in the not so distant past I have jumped on a train going the wrong way; missed my stop on an express train and wound up 60 blocks too far uptown; and walked the completely wrong direction after leaving the station. its OK.
