I ended up booking direct with Alamo car rental. I like Alamo because as a member of their free Insiders club I got a small discount (maybe 5%) off the price, but more importantly I can check in online and avoid the airport check in desk by simply going to the lot and picking out my car. So for me I don't see a great advantage to Priceline anymore.
Answer 1 of 10: I've never used priceline but have been reading alot about it on the boards. I currently have a pretty good price with Alamo ($19 per day) for mid size car for a 3 week trip in the fall. This is using my costco membership discount.
I booked a car on the cosco site with a similar price to Alamo when using discount codes and my members #, the only real advantage was that cosco gave a free 2nd driver, no matter what relation they are to you (alamo will allow your spouse or business associate free, but no one else).
1. Re: Any good discount codes for Alamo Car Rental. Alamo a partner with Costco. If you are a Costco member book the car thru Costco travel. You get a minimum of 25% off any rate Alamo.com can offer. My deal was 25% off and $40 since I'm renting for 10+ days.
I tried it again on Friday and got another $20 off from my rental - now 8 days full size for $192 (all in), which I think is a pretty good price. 10. Re: Car rental with Entertainment Book codes - discount! I used priceline.com for May 1st thru May 8th for $133.37, this is for a mid size car.
I tried a few different codes and even one in addition to $50 off Hertz and the prices I got still did not beat the prices on Priceline and Hotwire. Alamo is one of the agencies that those two sites use, too. It can't hurt to check them out. (just ignore the page that comes up on Priceline that says you should offer $27 or $28/per day.)
