But usually they don't check the car in until they open in the morning, meaning that you might run up an extra days' charge depending on what time of day you originally picked up the car.

Most car rental shuttles including Hertz pull up to the 'traffic island' in the roadway in front of exit door for baggage claim at each terminal. The traffic island has color-coded signs hanging over it. Look for the PURPLE overhead sign that says "Rental Cars".

   Very small - most rental cars from reputable US companies (of which Hertz is one) are newer models and are very reliable. The most likely problem to occur is an unexpected flat tire from road debris, and I am confident that I could change the tire myself if I needed to. So no roadside assistance for me.
