9 years ago. Just wanted to warn my fellow Trip Advisor users about getting charged additional fees when renting a car from Hertz at the Frankfurt airport. After reading numerous reviews and spending several hours doing my homework about renting a car in Germany I still ended up with an additional $176.00 worth of charges on my credit card.

Feb 18, 2024, 9:07 AM. We rented a car from Frankfurt airport last year after our trans Atlantic flight. We drove about an hour to Heidelberg for our first night. It was not a bad drive as the airport is south of Frankfurt in the direction of Heidelberg. I would not wanted to have driven much further though.
