    You may find credit card slower if you have to sign to use an overseas card, but some places take Apple /Google Pay as well. I think you will find few places now that are cash only. Personally I use a bank ATM on arrival to withdraw maybe $100USD in local currency, and use my credit card for nearly everything.

    1. Re: US credit card to pay for train/tube. Yes you can use your card for 6 days and be charged at £6.80/day in Zone 1-2. It will be cheaper over 6 days to buy a Travelcard (which can be put on an Oyster card) rathercthan using a contactless card which will just charge daily.
