9 years ago. I am mapping out a massive USA Road Trip and had my route drive times on the website: roadtrippers.com. A couple times seems 'long' to me so I went to google maps & all times were significantly shorter (yippee!). Went to mapquest.com & times were similar to Google Maps BU each leg of trip was 15-30 minutes longer on mapquest.
Mapquest driving directions, using I5 as the main road, shows the time from Needles to San Francisco as 9 hours, 566 miles. If you do not want to do that in one swoop, I might suggest Tracy or Livermore. You can see on a map where they are in relation to I5 and how to get into the city.

6. Re: Pacific Highway 1 - Google maps. 5 years ago. You can easily add waypoints to force Google maps to take the route you want, although you can only add so many, (ten I believe). Anyway you can type in the city or you can do a map search so you just put the X on Highway one and hit save.

15 years ago. GoogleMaps is far ahead of Mapquest these days. Mapquest was first, but it has been playing a futile attempt at catch-up since GoogleMaps came on the scene. Having said that, " Vegas to Anaheim then LA around the LA area then to palm springs and back to LAX" is not going to challenge any mapping engine.
