So I wanted to leave a review to help those who are feeling what I did. We fly into SJO and rented a car from National. They were AMAZING!

Reach out to confirm everything on your reservation, including the quote, of course. Make sure you're communicating with someone in Costa Rica.
we are a couple aged 60 and are planning a week in costa rica in early december. here is our proposed itinerary: arrive sjo 11 pm- stay at fairfield marriott that evening. day 1- pickup rental car at airport; drive to arenal- stay at arenal springs resort. day 2- arenal hanging bridges in am; volcano nature and history tour in pm.

We needed a vehicle to fit 2 adults and our 4 older (taller) teens and luggage. We rented through VAMOS RENT-A-CAR with pick-up/drop-off at the San Jose airport.
We rented a full size 4x4 SUV for 14 days from a major rental company at Liberia Airport and found this; 14 day Rental $1,372.80. Insurrance $770. AIRPORT FEE 13.75 PER RNTL (13.75%) $294.64. ENVIRONMENTAL FEE .40 USD/DAY $5.60. LICENSE PLATE FEE $1.50 USD/DAILY $21.00. VALUE ADDED TAX (13%) $320.

Re: National Car Rental. 12 years ago. i just got a quote a couple hours ago from mapache for a suzuki jimny 4x4. based on my 42 day rental with basic insurance the per day cost is $58.33 with additional insurance it's $77.78 per day. Report inappropriate content. kewltea. Boston.
Booked a rental using north American National Website. Everything worked out and was priced exactlly as quoted. Took a cab from airport to the office. Im so glad I didn't listen to the so-called experts on here that try to fear monger people...
