   29. Re: Rental car discount codes and lowest prices. 9 years ago. We will be in Maui from 12/26 through 1/2, and I just switched from a $482 Nissan Sentra for the week from DHCR, to a $231 Ford EDGE from Costco. It pays to keep checking! (Both of these reservations were from Budget).

   Sorry you had such a bad time. I say it all the time, nothing can ruin a vacation faster than a bad car rental. Going with the cheapest quote is often penny wise and pound foolish. I never rent from companies with a financial themed name, so I never ever rent from Budget, Thrifty, Payless, Dollar and Similar.

   15 years ago. Thanks to a tip on Mousesavers for rental car codes, I stumbled on a Walmart coupon code for Budget. Mousesavers said the code is for Walmart customers (ie everyone) and didn't list any other stipulations. Anyhow, without the code, total cost for an intermediate car is $269. With the Walmart code, the cost is an amazing $155.

   -Hawaiian airlines discount with Avis: K816401 (This one tends to be the cheapest)-Island air discount with Budget: U030087-Other rental car options include Discount hawaii car rental, Adventures rent-a-jeep (used cheap 4x4s), Costco, Priceline and Expedia. I'm sure there are lots more options, but found these to be the best.
