Alamo, Hertz, Avis, National, Enterprise -- we mostly do one-day rentals from San Diego and return the car in Orange County or L.A. when we are getting on a cruise ship or flying out of LAX. We've used all of the major brands at various times and never had a problem.

All of the car rental companies are 'off site' at LAX but since you're flying in from Buffalo, you won't have a non-stop flight.

   Saturdays in the summer can be heavy traffic times. It typically takes two hours from San Diego, but summer time traffic on the weekends can be brutal. Check out the Sea View Inn in Manhattan Beach. Super close to the airport, plenty of parking and many good options for breakfast, and nice walk on beach.

Can’t see it being that much quicker or cheaper.”.
