    Many people may not be aware that Tennessee does not have a state income tax so they make it up with sales tax. What is the sales tax now in Chattanooga and other places? Where I live in North Georgia the sales tax is 7%. We have a 1% local tax that goes toward community improvements. Otherwise, it would be 6%.

    Tax on non-food items ran around 9.75%. I think the tax in Pigeon Forge is the same as Gatlinburg, but maybe someone else can confirm that for you. I also have family in Eastern TN and he says he a pays 8.75% tax on grocery items and 9.75% tax on non-food items. He didn't know the prepared food or lodging taxes though off hand.
