   There are actually two lakes inside this recreation area. There is Upper Sherando Lake and Lower Sherando Lake. The lower lake is 25 acres and has a swimming beach and nearby picnic area. There were lots of hiking trails that we did not have time for, and the area had a wild and lovely mountain stream (or streams) running through it in many places.
