2. Re: Which Rental Car Companies Are Easiest at Airport. All car rental facilities at LAX are off-site, and you will need to take a shuttle from the terminal to get to one. I would stick with the major firms - Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Thrifty.

While they have numerous negative reviews we did not have any problems. Granted their cars are not new. With tax in we paid $76 for the 4 days which I think was very good.
Shuttle Wait Time- Both times the wait at LAX to be picked up has exceeded 15 minutes so I would recommend calling them once you get your bags to let them know you are waiting. A horror story would be if you were assaulted by the shuttle driver and thrown in the trunk of your rental car. Top tier companies are usually the most frequent and reliable so Avis, Alamo, Enterprise out of your choices. As for getting back to an LAX hotel you can Uber or shuttle back to the airport to pick up the hotel shuttle.
The reason I decided to try Fox was because they were the only company to offer a Hybrid car - a Honda Civic. No problems whatsoever. I made the reservation online and called them a couple of times as well just to ease my mind. Most car rental shuttles including Hertz pull up to the 'traffic island' in the roadway in front of exit door for baggage claim at each terminal. The traffic island has color-coded signs hanging over it. Look for the PURPLE overhead sign that says "Rental Cars".
