Credit card coverage is fine except it does not cover "loss of use" for the rental agency. This coverage is for downtime of the vehicle - charges that may be assessed because the damaged vehicle can't be put back into service.
The rental car company has to have third party liability coverage on the vehicle, which is the primary coverage (there's no extra fee for this - it's included in your rental fee, although they do give an option to increase the limit for a fee.)
