I always use ATT when I travel internationally, it costs $10 a day for an international plan, it automatically turns on and off when you leave the country and when you return. Unlimited talk and data so if the wifi isn't good I use my phone as a hot spot and teether my laptop to the phone.

We ended up adding "AT&T Canada and Mexico Travel Minutes" to each phone line. My husband got 80 minutes for $30 and I got 200 minutes for $60. I wanted to have these plans added for a fraction of the month since we only there for 8 days, but the second agent at AT&T said that wouldn't work. Sometimes our calls to the US did not go through.
3. Re: AT&T Wireless Service. 15 years ago. Yes, AT&T works well in San Lucas - not sure about San Jose. Its worth it to call AT&T and get on their "Mexico plan" ($3.99 or $4.99 - cant remember exactly). It cuts your calling costs from .99 a minute to .59 a minute and no daily roaming fee.

You'll be safe in all three places if you aren't looking for stupid drinking, late nights. Be mature about your decisions in other words.
