When I got to the rental counter after an hour standing in line, the agent could not find any reservation for me.

3 years ago. Kirk, you did not rent a car from Priceline, you rented from a rental company and had Priceline book it. That means you are held to the terms you agreed to with both companies. You are not entitled automatically to a refund because you had personal things go wrong.
Priceline is not a scam, it is an online travel agency. Perhaps you could provide some additional details about your particular issue? Many people focus on the daily rental rate without reviewing the total cost of the rental. Taxes and fees can sometimes double the cost of the rental. The states and local municipalities love to tax tourists.

Depending on where you are flying I actually like Southwest airlines rental car portal for the way they lay out the prices.
Re: BEWARE - Do NOT book a car rental through Priceline.com. Pyzrk. I called Priceline and they admitted that the prepayment $261 is only for reservations fee not for car rental. The thrifty car rental said the prepayment not go to their pocket. That’s why I think Priceline website is misleading you.
