So far I have paid off our room at check in with the gift cards, but it takes a bit of time as they have to run each one through the card reader and wait for a receipt. Then they had to enter all of them into the computer as the card reader does not sync to the computer. And lastly I had to sign a receipt for each card. Probably took 30 minutes.

One of the nice things about the Epic pass technology is that you are scanned by a lift operator, versus going through a gate that only reads a certain area of the body. Put it into a pocket then the lift operator will scan to find it. You'll only be checked at the lower lifts generally.
I use the epic. Vail resorts uses radio frequency scanning. I keep mine zipped in an out pocket. They just scan over it. A lanyard works too. Keep it accessible enough that you can get to it if the scanner is not picking ut up. Credit card mag stripes can mess with the scanners so dont put your credit cards in the same pocket.
