SORIANA has arrived in Zihua. 6 years ago. It has been over 2 years since I read about Soriana buying Comercial Mexicana. There have been small changes along the way, but signage still said Comercial Mexicana. The signage now says SORIANA. Main grocery store in Ixtapa is called Merza, a supermarket opposite Holiday Inn. It takes credit cards and pesos. Good for snack food, coffee, milk products, basic breads, vegetable and fruit. Limited in meats . Huge super market in Zihua called Soriana ( used to be the Commercial).

Bodega is right on the bus line from Ixtapa and Soriana is a nice walk from Zihua and Madera beach area. You'll find a bit more at Soriana but we are happy with Bodega.

Soriana and the Mercado Central (fresh local fruit/veggies) could be your first two stops - for restaurants, at the beach hang a right and head down to Patti's . . or a left and head to La Perla or Rossy's
But about the same distance as the Soriana. Remember to take bags as they don't supply them anymore. The little shop across from your hotel is quite well stocked, from cigs to wine (not a great selection though) to beer and sodas and snacks galore.
