The potential issue with using Debit is that any pre-authorisation ("hold") placed on your card is held against your money, rendering it inaccesible for any other purpose until it's cleared/settled. So your account has to contain enough to cover this pluds your actual spends.
According to the link above Advantage will debit your card the total of the rental plus up to $140 deposit. So, if your rental total is $200 plus a $140 deposit= $340 debited from your card immediately and then the deposit refunded some days after you return the car. Again, all companies do not have the same policy. Read the T&Cs.
Hi Traveldays. We have only ever used a credit card at the car hire.They normally put a hold on the money so i can say how a debit card would work. my advice would be though if you are in a position to get a credit card even if it only has a smallish limit on it then try and get one and take it.

That doesn't mean that they won't take them, but you could get someone that is a stickler for policy. Report inappropriate content.
