Soooooooo, we are up to the 4th iteration of this game, I've tried to ring them as well, and got passed to different departments all claiming it's not their role to deal with customers complaints. I expected much more from Avis, I've been a loyal customer for more than 20 years and rented cars from them (with zero drama) all over the world. So ...
First- the customer service is awful. We waited in line for over 60 minutes to even talk with an agent then waited an additional 20-30 minutes for the car to arrive. The agent told me that extra insurance in Costa Rica is REQUIRED so I proceeded to get socked with more than $350 in additional charges above my $250 rental.
