Aug 2023 • Couples. Upper Town or Haute-Ville is a beautiful part of Quebec. There are plenty of restaurants and bars as well as tourist and other shops to keep visitors happy. Old Québec is the only walled city in North America and is carefully preserved as a World Heritage Site. The quarter is divided into two parts: the Lower Town (Basse-Ville) and the Upper Town (Haute-Ville). The district contains many of Québec’s oldest and most significant buildings, many of which date from before 1850.
The Lower Town should be on every first time visitor's list of things to do in Québec City. There is so much history in this area which dates back to the early 1600s. Lots of restaurants and beautifully restored buildings. It is easily accessible form the Upper Town on foot, or by the funiculaire.
