Every garage will be happy to have you there for a couple of hours and have you pay $20. And they will be glad to let you stay overnight and charge you $40 per night.
1 year ago. My family of 4 with a small dog are going to drive to NYC from Canada by car. At first we want to stay in Manhattan near Times Square for convenience and vibe. However, we can't seem to find any hotel/garage parking with in/out privilege in Manhattan or nearby areas (except for hotels in NJ, Long Island /Queens and airport area).

While I'm there I will be sporadically driving around to different places within 1 hour of Manhattan. Sometimes I might come and go twice a day but usually just once.

As a New Yorker I feel it necessary to help visitors avoid paying $60 for two hours of parking. Prices vary by area and I would always park in one place and take public transportation. But if you're driving in from NJ, Long Island ...
The 15-20 minute train ride into Penn Station in Manhattan (W. 34th St. & 7th Ave -- across the street from Macy's, close to the Empire State Building, 1 subway stop from Times Square) costs just $5.75 round-trip on weekends/non-rush hours on weekdays or 6.50 roundtrip during peak times on weekdays.
6. Re: Most Secure 4-Day Overnight Parking Outside NYC. 1 year ago. If you can taxi or Uber from the ferry terminal in Weehawken instead of taking the ferry, that parking garage is very clean, safe and I felt secure - the ferry into Manhattan is my preference so I have used it many times.
