1. Re: Credit card vs. cash. 6 years ago. Discover is very rarely accepted in Canada except at hotels. Visa & MasterCard are the most widely used cards, with Amex also being accepted. Most cabs should take a cc... but you should get Canadian cash for small purchases. It is unlikely the ferry between Halifax & Dartmouth would take USD.
