If those are base rates, they seem a bit high, even with the codes (if it includes all the fees and taxes they are pretty good.) So ask at the desk specifically for a 4wd. Look at the keytag, it must say AWD (instead RWD or FWD). Even check picking up the car (there are dashbord switches in a 4wd car ). We have driven Beartooth several times from both direction and never needed a 4wd. With heavy snow don't drive it at all, also not with a 4wd.

Most agencies have several ranges of SUVs that will give you clearance and FWD, first of all, and possibly AWD. But, you're going to pay a fair amount more for that.
