Just my experience here from years in the past: During several September visits, we spent both a Sunday and a Monday at the two Universal theme parks. Keeping in mind the parks have early closing times that time of year, we managed each trip to NOT need Express Passes, but each year go more and more crowded.

Its like this, you can get an Express Pass thats good for (1) one park for (1) day OR Both parks for (1) day. This pass allows you to by-pass the regular lines on each ride only ONE time. OR. You can bundle your tickets with an unlimited express pass, a bit more expensive but offers more flexibility.
Express pass is more effective but comes at the price of hotel of buying it on top of your ticket. Not all attractions have single rider but most rides do. If it is rides your in to single rider works just fine. Note minions will need to be first thing as no line to use and loads real slow. 2.

Planning on going to Universal and Adventure island on two different days during the one week visit and noticed the prices for express was cheaper on this upcoming Sunday probably because of the rain. Are the prices the same in the park for the express pass and does anyone recommend going during the rain where it's possibly less ...
I seriously doubt anything will be a walk on like they were in September but your waits should be significantly less with Express. If (and I don’t believe they’ve announced park hours/early entry parks for your dates yet) the parks open at 8:00 a.m., I highly recommend trying to make at least one 7:00 a.m. EE.
Here are the 2 options: Option #1) 2 Park, 2 day + Express pass for each day. Cost approx $205. Pro's, on a 2 day visit we can go at a more relaxed pace and still ride most rides (except those that are excluced like HP).
